Digital Skills

A guided week online that builds the foundation, then two days at the centre on a dedicated machine per participant, converting that foundation into a marketable specialisation.

Syllabus

Five subject units

Units one to three are covered in the guided week online; units four and five at the centre in Lafia.

Units one to three — the guided week online, 7–13 September 2026

  1. Unit one Online, on this platform

    Digital foundations

    Device and operating-system fluency, file and data management, internet navigation, digital identity and NIN services, cybersecurity, fraud awareness and safe online conduct.

  2. Unit two Online, on this platform

    Productivity and workplace tools

    Word processing, spreadsheets and data entry, presentations, cloud storage and collaboration tools, and professional email practice.

  3. Unit three Online, on this platform

    Digital enterprise

    Setting up an online storefront, e-commerce and marketplace listings, digital payments and merchant tools, order handling, logistics and customer records.

Units four and five — at the centre, 14–15 September 2026

  1. Unit four In person, in Lafia

    Digital marketing and content

    Social media for business, content creation and basic design, photography and short-form video for product marketing, organic and paid reach, and reading analytics.

  2. Unit five In person, in Lafia

    Work readiness and applied AI

    Freelance and remote-work platforms, profile and portfolio building, proposals and client communication, receiving international payments, and the practical use of AI tools for productivity and service delivery.

Places and support

Who this stream is for, and what follows it

Priority criteria decide who is shortlisted; enablement is what the programme provides after the training itself.

Eligibility

Priority is given to

  • Priority to youth with basic literacy
  • A demonstrated intent to work in or through digital channels
  • Prior computer experience is not required

Nominees are drawn from all thirteen Local Government Areas, and not less than 50 per cent of the places in this stream are held for women, youth and persons living with disabilities. A nominee may hold a place in one stream only.

Enablement

What follows the training

Twenty-four graduates who complete the guided week online and pass the final assessment receive a personal workstation, awarded on assessed merit.

Graduates of every stream may also enter the pitch competition on the closing day, where winning ventures receive seed grants at the graduation ceremony.
